Sustain Te Moata.

Back in 2009, we united our efforts to ‘Save Te Moata,’ and through our collective strength and compassion, we achieved that goal. Now, as we look towards 2025, it is time for us to rally once more to ‘Sustain Te Moata.’ Let us join hands and hearts to ensure that this precious place continues to thrive for generations to come. Your support is vital, and together, we can make a lasting impact.

Stage One

$400,000 needed urgently in the next 2 months (2023 – 2024)
Pay our management team of four a fair wage
Upgrade the solar system to reliably power the kitchen fridges, gas oven ignition and main rooms in the Centre
Replace the faulty water pump and secure a reliable water supply
Repair the roof and replace guttering of the main Centre building
Re-roof and renovate the substandard permanent accommodation for our assistant managers (Sun Hut and Air Hut) to bring them up to an acceptable living standard
Re-roof Earth hut and upgrade the solar system of both Earth hut and the Wwoofer’s cottage to reliably power a fridge and provide light

Stage Two

$250,000 needed (2024 – 2025)
Provide more resources for predator/ pest control
Upgrade drainage system
Bring back to life our remote bush huts (Kauri Cabin, Cliff Kuti and Far Hills)
Replacement of 4 wheel drive Ute

Stage Three

Money needed over the next few years
Establish a fund from donations and bequests to cover future shortfalls and sustain Te Moata
Raise funds for a replacement of the Woofer’s cottage ($600,000)

How You Can Help Sustain Te Moata

One-Off or Annual Donations: As we are an approved charity, you can claim 33.33 cents for each dollar you donate as a tax credit. Donate directly to our Te Moata bank account –12-3044-0422743-000 with ‘Sustain TM’ in the reference fields and your name.
Please email sustaintemoata@temoata.org to let us know you have donated. We like to acknowledge donations in our newsletters and give credit where credit is due, however some prefer to be anonymous so let us know if you prefer anonymity.
Automatic Payments: Set up an automatic payment to ensure ongoing repairs and maintenance. A recurring donation, no matter how small the amount, ensures a steady stream of support that sustains our initiatives. If you already have an a/p set up, thank you so much. (If so, might you increase it in response to this need?)
Share Fundraising Ideas: If you have great fundraising ideas, take ownership of them and we’ll help publicise them in our future newsletters.
Leave a Lasting Legacy: Consider including Te Moata in your will and leave a bequest to safeguard the sanctuary’s future for generations.
Share your Time and Experience: Come to Te Moata and be a part of work teams for infrastructure, conservation, and ongoing care needs. It will take all our creativity and individual skills to sustain Te Moata into the future.
