Our 14-day intensive residential Permaculture Design Course. This Course fulfils the standard requirements of the international permaculture curriculum.

Permaculture is a design system for sustainable living and land use; it is the harmonious integration of landscape, people & appropriate technologies to provide food, shelter, energy & other needs in a sustainable way. Permaculture is built upon an ethic of caring for the earth & working with nature. Trish Allen and Daniel Tohill are outstanding and award-winning permaculture leaders and teachers.

Students have the chance to get fully immersed in the permaculture way of thinking and acting and invited to bring details of their own or potential sites.

No prior knowledge or experience is necessary, but the course is also suitable for experienced gardeners.  To view course content click: PDC Outline of topics & reading list.

Testimonial from Claire, a Graduate from the 2019 PDC course at Te Moata:

The Permaculture Design Course at Te Moata is a wonderful opportunity for people familiar with, or new to permaculture principles. It offers a broad approach to creating integrated systems which respond to and work with nature informed by observation, analysis and reflection. Wonderfully, these can be applied on personal, community or global scale in any environment. Theory was thoughtfully structured and presented in very accessible ways and creative opportunities were provided for practicing our new learning.

Trish and Daniel presented new ways of looking at the world around us and gave encouragement to try these new ideas and practices in our lives and communities. They brought their depth and breadth of experience to share with the group. Their teaching was warm, generous and insightful..spread with gentle humour.

Trish and Daniel are very skilled facilitators and our group bonded quickly and gently.  It was wonderful to be part of a group with shared values and purpose, holding a range of ages and experiences, enjoying a lot of laughter and some deep discussions. I left feeling renewed hope and with practical resources to respond to the challenges of living on Earth in 2019. I was moved and inspired by the generosity of Permaculture itself, our teachers and group.

Te Moata, both the place and people are a huge part of this experience. Again warmth and generosity were evident in every detail….the space, meals, service team, communication. This place provides for both contemplation and connection in the most exquisite, replenishing setting.
